Crushed vs. Uncrushed soda cans: Final Edit

Coke: Final Edit

The object is really simple, smooth, even-flowing feeling. Then other object(object 2) came in the way. Object 2 gave a feeling of distorted, rough, uneasy feeling. The shapes of the object 2 doesn't look right. It looked terrible with sharp edges. The original object (object 1) doesn't not have any sharp edges or have usual shapes. If you look carefully, you will see that both objects have their own beauty. People in general would say object one is a beauty because of its smooth, shapeless feeling. It still do have shape but a simple shape. It does not give you a rough, sharp feelings. Object 2 will make people feel uneasy to see. Something happened to the object because it does not look right anymore. What people never see, is the beauty itself inside the sharp edge of the object. Each object has its own beauty. it takes a well-aware person to notice that in there because it is not easy to see the beauty in it. We in our subconscious see things that are smooth, ever-flowing objects to be beauty, never liked to see something rough to be a beauty object.

Trash

Trash
How often do you see trash outside? Pretty often. The trash was easy to find but finding a relationship between each clip of the different items was much more difficult. This one was really hard and I do not think I will pick it for the final edit because I am still struggling with how to put trash together since it's so random. I thought about making everything really short, really fast, and blurry. Only when you watch it again carefully, will you be able to identity a few things in the video clip. This is just a very basic rough edit for me to work and play with.

Clothes

Clothes
The shoes hanging from the phone line fits the stragety I wrote for this project. I wanted to combine it with the stills of the string and a hat to make it look like a caterogy of clothes. I mainly cataerogied my raw footage. I did that to give me some organization to work with. It helped me to find clips that worked well with other clips, creating interesting montages for this project. The shoes swinging on the line, had been blown by the wind. I could not get any closer to them because they were really high up, and I am a short person. I really like the footage of the shoes as being their own complete thought all in a single shot, but I had to make it interesting in the form of a montage of different clips. The string relates to the shoe laces that hang the shoes from the phone line. The fabric the shoes were made of is similar to the fabric used to make the hat. There are relationships between the objects that connect them to each other and make the piece a whole; strings to shoe laces, shoe laces to shoes, shoes to hat.

Computer

Computer
The electronic themed idea turned into a really awesome experience for me because I found everything for it at different locations, at different times. I started with the video clip of the computer only. I thought about how to fit it into my other clips and how it works well on its own. I decided that I needed more footage, so I went out and amazingly enough, found the keyboard and the joystick! I was really excited that I found more similar clips to work with. Too bad I could not find a computer tower or mouse, otherwise it would be neat to find everything at different locations and put them together in the video clip.

Coke

Coke
The coke can was the only can I found that had not been crushed and was just laying right there. I added a few stills of the crushed Mountain Dew and Budweiser cans to create a comparison between crushed versus not crushed. I did not put many stills because I need feedback beforehand, since I decided to use this one for the final edit. I will want to work on the emphasis of comparison more. This is really just a rough edit to be critiqued.

Chair/Desk

Chair/Desk
The video of the chair I found was really unique because of its golden color, and how it was found on top of the snow. It looked like someone threw it out and did not care about it anymore. The person who threw out did not know others such as me might find it to be a treasure. The chair was like a golden treasure for me to videotape and take pictures of. The desk was also a treasure for me to videotape. I also found a broken tv, and only took stills of it. I should have videotaped that too, but I forgot. The stills combined the desk and chair in random order to make them look interesting to me, because if they were put in order, their familiarity as commonly seen objects could be boring. I decided to put it in random order to make me pay more attention to the stills, than just "oh I know what that is" already.
